Bad water

I get my water from Clinton. For the past month it has a bad fishy taste. The water dept. knows about this and has been trying to fix it. But i still get the bad taste. I have resorted to my fridge's filtered water for everyday needs with decent luck. Has anyone brewed lately using carbon filters, and If so, has this removed the horrid fish stank?

I use the water straight from the hose and have 2 carbon filters on my brew rig. The filters take out any "off" tastes and chlorine. They have worked very well and are relatively cheap. Can get the tanks for about $19 each and filters for about $6 each at Home Depot.

I have a bunch of filters as well. Clinton Lake where i get my water is getting alot of run off, more than normal for this time of year. The result is a fishy taste. This has never been an issue in the past. So the reason i posted was to ask if anyone has filtered Clinton water with the fishy taste lately, and if so has filtering been working to rid this funk fish flavor. I'm sure its working just fine, but when i suddenly have a bad flavor in my brew water, brewing comes to a sudden halt S. of Lawrence until further investigation has been completed!!

Got to thinking which is generally a bad idea
I am on the West side of Lawrence and I believe that my water distribution is from Clinton Lake. We have not had a smell in our water. My wife can sniff out things with the best of them.
It may be the distribution pipe header that runs your way from the plant. The water district may need to open the fire hydrant in your neighborhood, flush and get rid of the pipe settlings.

Fire hydrants out in the county?
There was an article in the LJW last week about the problem. Seems it has got just slightly better, but not enough for me to even have a glass of water. Pretty funky....Thanks..

We have Rural water from Dist 2 (sourced from Lawrence plant on Wakarusa), we filter ALL our water through carbon filter and have had no odor in the water, so it should work on yours, too.

We live near 23rd Street Brewery west of Kasold and north of Clinton Parkway and we haven't noticed any problems with our water. I talked to somebody from the City Water Dept once and he said that our water comes from the big blue tank on Kasold north of Clinton Parkway. And most of that water comes from Clinton, but when the water gets funky at Clinton we will get water from the Kaw River.
