Getting settled in Lawrence, and would like to learn where all the best local deals/friendliest services are for:
* propane
* Co2 and o2
* stainless cutting and welding
* who (LBG members) usually has basic grains, yeast & hops on hand to lend/trade for brewday emergencies
* any other brewing necessity i haven't thought of
This might be a good concise list to maintain on the forum for new and existing members. I know I've seen some of these answers scattered around over the years.
First brewday at 208 Arizona, April 3!

Excellent idea! An area on the forum that lists where to find supplies in Lawrence would be excellent!
Who's up for the task---I'd do it myself, but I'm definitely no the most qualified to do this.

Community forum needs a community response. It takes a LBG village to raise a LBG child, eh?
Propane - Old Kirk Welding, now Praxair is hit or miss with a discount. Sometimes if you say you are with the Guild, one person will cut you a few dollars off, other times they are like, huh? I only go there now when I'm getting CO2 as well.
CO2 - Only place I know if is Praxair.
Brewing ingredients? While I don't stock my shelves for the purpose of supplying others, if you are in a pinch, PM me or give me a call. I know of others in the area, but I'll let them volunteer themselves. I don't propogate yeast, so that's out. Currently I have 11 different hops from 4 to 16 oz. and 24 different grains of 4 lbs or more. You may want to start stocking up on grain via the grain buys (including splits). Buying from hopsdirect.com really lowers your per oz price as well.
The Merc has fair local prices on glass carboys and Better Bottles.
Jensen's is the Lawrence Liquor Store.

I keep some yeast on slants, but building starters takes about 5-7 days, not so good for "last minute". I try to keep base grains on hand and get specialty grains from the LHBS (though I am feeling less tolerant of their pricing).
There's a thread on swaps in the forum, but that seems somewhat itinerant.
I was wondering if the LBG might consider developing a community resource for ingredients and equipment. Has this been discussed/tried before?

My uncle’s friend told me about this company (I forgot the name) with the free service of
stainless steel welding and since it is free, he asked them to fix his stainless steel tube. But as they brought back this stainless, and uncle used it in their kitchen, after 2 days the welded tube collapsed. Maybe, that’s why it was free because of their poor performance.
