Looks like Saturday, or maybe Sunday and Monday will be the coolest days for the past couple of weeks, and the next couple of weeks, too. Seems like the timing is right to stock up for late August light/lawnmower beers and to get a start on Brewfest beers!!

Brewing a Cascade Blonde on Saturday. Should be interesting, since it's going to be the first full run with the new mash tun.
Come by at 10am or after. I'll prolly be going until 4-6.

How'd everyone's brew go?
New mash tun surprised me with 85% eff. 30oz of Cascade on a 1.059 pale ale.
Tasted good going into the fermenter. One fermenter is Whitelabs 007 and the other is Wyeast 1056.

English bitter today. All the numbers were hit, we had lots of visitors today, and helped an LBG member brew his first beer today! One snafu however. With all the visitors, and me being a chatty cathy, I failed to throw the sparge salt additions into the boil kettle-- as is standard procedure for us. The mash salts did make it though. Guess we'll see what the impact is
This awareness came to me while I was oxygenation and pitching yeast. I thought for a moment that I might boil a cup or two of distilled to dissolve the salts and add to the fermenter, but did not. I am wondering if this would not have been the best solution-- so to speak

We had a good day. Brewed 24 gallons. 12 gallons of Scottish dark ale (OG 1.084) and a Cream Ale (OG 1.050). the Scottish ale was a couple of points low, but had a great color and taste. the Cream Ale was dead on. Was hot, but fun was had by all.

Uh - whoops! Isn't that what you were weighing when I showed up? Sounds like I owe you a
couple of bottles of Omar's Vengeance.
Thanks again for the brown and the bottles, btw!
