just remember that a standard U.S. Sanke keg is 15.5 gallons, which is a 1/2 bbl.

There are three main measurements of what a "barrel" is:
Imperial = 36 gal
Us = 32 (31.678)
Old style = 34
So it depends on the source you are reading. In the 1800's a barrel was defined as 36 gallons...
