Does anybody have an analysis of the Lawrence water? I realize I can call the city of Lawrence to get a record of some sort. I just wanted to know if anyone had any input on this. I'm new to homebrewing and wonder how much just using water out of the tap will affect the beer. Thoughts?

There is a Lawrence Water Analysis thread with some analysis numbers in the member's section. It basically boiled down to; it's hard to say which tap (Clinton or Kaw) you get water from because there's no defined lines on a map.

I have used Lawrence water with no problems. I haven't noticed it to smell of Chlorine, which can be one major problem with municipal water. I do use PH Stabilizer in my mash because Lawrence water is a little on the high side. Some dissolved solids in water does actually help with hop utilization and flavor profile.

I believe many of the brewers that use tap water run it through a water filter to knock out chlorine, and some of the heavy metals and other nastiness. There are some good threads on the forum discussing the use of these filters.
