Mass Beverage Supply Shop

Mass Beverage is interested in carying some homebrewing supplies to help out the LBG. They would like to start out small, and if it works out well, slowly build it up. So I need to compile a list of things we would like to see them carry. Feel free to think big.

Obviously yeast would be a big help. Do you want to see them carry some kits? Specialty grains?

Start listing stuff here!

Just a crazy thought, but they sell full kegs, right? So do they also have CO2 on site? Cuz having a second CO2 source in town wouldn't suck for those times when Kirk Welding is closed and your CO2 runs out.

That, in addition to some commonly used yeast strains, specialty grains, sanitizer, and such would make my list.

Id like to see if they could call WY on Mon. and have fresh yeast built and shipped by Fri.....Id also say

Various specialty grains (pick some)
Kit Beers for newbies
Some hops
Airlocks/stoppers
Sanitizer(s)
DME and LME sold seperatly
Maybe even some buckets for fermentors for new brewers
carboys
Clairifiers ( Irish Moss, Super Moss)

We could put togther partial boil equipment kits for new brewers

Get Joe to chime in here. The guild put together a list of items from the Merc sometime ago. Last time we talked about it, he said he should know where it is.

Regardless......

Yeasts:
Chico
London Ale
Irish Ale
Some wine yeast
Dry yeast, Nottingham or something.

Grains:
Chocolate
Black Patent
Some roasted
Munich
Crystal 40, 60, 120
Wheat
2 row

In my mind, the longer the shelf life the better. With 2-3 base malts that tend to rotate more.

Simular extracts.

And what Andy said, plus a mill for grains.

I will prolly add, but I need to pay attention in the brew shops when I am there..

For those of you that would like to see Mass carry some specialty grains, where would you recommend they purchase them? I immagine we will want to offer them the opportunity to get in on our bulk buys, but when they can not buy in bulk, where should they go?

Cargill has nice specialties and base malts. They will have to be bought in bulk and broke down into sizable quantities im pretty sure... they have a KC distributer. Im certian BB and Homebrew Proshoppe get there grains there.

Greetings all!

This is Andrew from Mass Beverage (the new beer guy, of sorts).

We are still interested in starting in on this, but since no one on our end ever took charge, and there was some personnel turn over, it hasn't happened yet. I've gotten Ryan in touch with Wyeast, so hopefully some smack-packs with be our first foray into carrying some homebrewing goods. As I have just started brewing myself, I will push hard for this. I am open to suggestions, questions, and anything else.

I would be interested in buying beer kits locally. I occassionally order on-line and I usually can't make it to Topeka and KC very much so having a place in town to get a kit would be great for me.
