Hi Orval, I'd love to take that 40# off your hands but I'm a little uncertain what you mean by 'old style' and 'not opd'. Can I still fill/exchange it at a praxair?

the 30# and 40# tanks will need to have the new style opd (overfill protection device) valves installed before they
can be filled at praxair.

Took a 40 in and was charged $52. Same day another member took their 40 in and got charged $32ish. I get a headache figuring this out.

Where can I get that replacement done and how much does it cost?

Oops, maybe I misread Andy's post. Was that $50 to get the valve replaced or just to have it filled?

That was a fill. Very inconsistent pricing.

Id say if you are going to swap it you might get away with not having to get the valve replaced. They will overlook that along with hydro testing the majority of the time.

Ok, that's helpful advice.

If they somehow check the valve out before they give me the swap, what kind of grief will they give me about it? Will it be a charge to replace it?

If they give you any grief they would just charge you for a valve replacement. But, Id barter that price. If it becomes a deal.

there are very visible differences in the valves. old style only have female threads, pod valves have external and sometimes internal in addition
