For numerous reasons, Kansas State Fair will only be accepting online entries in our Competitions Departments, effective immediately. Entry deadline - Exhibitors are required to submit their entries online at www.kansasstatefair.com. Online registration closes at midnight on August 15th. (KSF Office is open til 5:00 on Friday, Aug. 14th for assistance)
Division 600- Kansas State Fair Homebrew Competition - "Red, White & Brew"
Premiums awarded for each style of this division, for each style, are 1st - $15 , 2nd - $10, 3rd - $8 and 4th - 5th a ribbon. Division Champion will receive an additional $20, Reserve Champion - $15 and Honorable Mention $10. These winners will also receive a rosette.
Homebrewing has exploded! The Kansas State Fair is proud to be able to give the opportunity to Kansas residents who homebrew, a chance to be judged and critiqued by members of the Kansas craft beer industry and the Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP). The regulations for the event are listed below.
Follows standard receiving times. Does not have special receiving hours.
Limit - 2 entries per exhibitor, per class
Must be a Kansas resident (age 21 or older) who is an Amateur Homebrewer.
Beer styles allowed: American Lager; American Pale Ale; American IPA; American Amber Ale; American Brown Ale; American Porter; American Stout; and American Wheat Beer. The style guidelines for each beer can be found here or at www.bjcp.org. Use the 2015 guidelines.
Entrants will provide two bottles (of each style entered) for judging purposes. Please use 10 oz. to 14 oz. bottles with plain caps.
Please use the linked labels (found on the BJCP website). Complete the information on the label and rubber band one to each bottle. These will be replaced by competition numbers for the judges.
The competition will be judged in two sessions.
The entries will be placed in Flights of 8 - 10 with entries judged in two session. Awards will be given for each style (1st, 2nd and 3rd) with a Champion (made up of the first-place winners) starting at 5:00 pm.
Final Judging - **Open to the public, beginning at 5:00 pm in the kitchen demonstration area of the Domestic Arts Bldg., Saturday, September 12, we will determine our Champion, Reserve Champion & Honorable Mention.
