DIY yeast starter stir plate

I know that most people have already seen instructions on how to make your own stir plates... but, here's one more:
DIY Stir Plate
From what I've heard others say, the most important thing is to be sure to have a flat bottomed vessel for your yeast container. I've seen posts where a guy is using a $4 clear glass flower vase from Wal-Mart with great results.
I'll probably be making one of these over the Holiday break. I have fans and old damaged hard drives and CD drives that I can use for parts. Just need the glass container and time to do it.
