I have a conference in San Diego next month and I was wondering if anybody had any great recommendations on brewpubs. I'm going a few days early and taking a girlfriend and we are looking for something to do other than the zoo, which we will definitely visit. I bought gift certificates to Blue Point Oyster Bar on skyauction.com for a song, but would like some suggestions from anyone who has spent much time there. Sadly, Hotel del Coronado is booked while I am there, so we are looking for a hotel/inn/B&B near the beach or on Coronado Island, and touristy stuff to do that is active. Thanks!
And you can all keep Sean busy while I am gone.

Stone brewery is in San Diego, and I think they just opened a restaurant. Bistro Gardens or something like that.

Here's a link to the San Diego Brewers Guild, which has links to every brewpub or microbrewery in the San Diego area and a map to show you where every thing is.

Pizza Port has 3 locations, San Clemente, Carlsbad and Solana Beach. I think all 3 locations won awards at the last GABF. We've been to the one in Carlsbad several times and the beer is great. I think Carlsbad is about 30 miles north of San Diego

O'Brien's Pub is a great place for beer. It's small and doesn't look like much, but the beer selection is great. Pliny the Elder is on tap now.

Don't go out of your way to visit a Karl Strauss Brewery. The food and beer was ok, but there are much better places to visit.

There is a brewpub on Coronado Island, Coronado Brewing Company, but we haven't been there.

There is also a Yard House in downtown San Diego.

I try to make it to Coronado Brewing http://www.coronadobrewingcompany.com/ on each trip to SD. It's on the main road to the Hotel Del and wintin walking distance from the ferry/pier. Decent beer and food, though when I was there in July the service was slow.
