WTB: 2 5g Cornelius Kegs

Hi everyone....

I am new to brewing and actually just tried my first batch the other night. I brewed up a kit I purchased from one of the LHBS and I think it turned out ok....by my standards anyway. I can bring some to the next meeting and I would be interested to get some feedback.

I will still probably do kits for awhile until I get a better understanding (and the $) to go all grain. However, (surprise!) I found that I really don't like the bottling thing. I am wanting to go to kegs sooner than later.

I have seen some 5g corneys recently on Ebay for about $50(includes shipping) for two which seems about on par with everywhere else I have looked. I like to keep my money local so I wanted to check with the guild to see if anyone happened to have some extra kegs they wanted to get rid of for less than $25/keg? Or, maybe, had some info on a better place to look. If not, I can always try my luck on Ebay.

Thanks for the help.

thanks,
andrew c.

Congrats on your first brew Andrew!! Definately bring it to the next meeting or out to Maifest if it is ready by then. LBG members give excelent feedback. Not a fan of bottling either. I have purchased quite a few kegs on ebay myself. Kegs are becomming increasingly difficult to find, and the price continues to go up. My advice to you is to purchase more than you think you will need.

Take that to heart.

I had a chance to get as many kegs as I wanted at $15 a piece and I bought 2, thinking I would never use 4 kegs (already had two pin locks). Wow, am I still pissed about that.
I'm also looking for kegs and would probably jump on anything that is less than $25 keg.
I found some on eBay a few months ago. 4 kegs delivered to my door for $79.96. Again, I should have bought more, cuz the seller no longer has any for sale (said he had over 2000 of them when he started to sell them).

If you think that you are going to keep on brewing, and believe that the extra expense now is savings later, buy at least 4 kegs. You can always use them for the primary (fermentation) stage, secondary (age/lagering) stage and serving stage.
You may start doing sodas, though I have no experience with this, everyone pretty much says that use the same keg for sodas as it imparts smells on the rings/gaskets.

Or, you could just hold on to them for a few months and turn around and sell them at a profit. Either way, you are going to get something out of it.

go on, by 4 or more. you won't regret it (well, from a brewing standpoint. I give no guarantees on significant others)
