Hey kids...
I finally got my stir plate made (well, mostly. I still need a rheostat to control the speed) and I'm looking for stir bars. I see that most sites sell them for under 8$, but it doesn't make sense to me to buy something where shipping is the same or more than the item.

so, 2 requests.
1) Does anyone have any stir bars for sale
or
2) Does anyone want to go in on a buy w/ me from ANY place to reduce the shipping costs?

Id go in on an order. Im looking for an odd shape hoping to get a better vortex. Where you ordering from? Jimvy over at HBA has a decent sight for these I think....

they have tear-drop, egg/obtuse, cross/plus, 1/2" to to 6.25" , color coded ones, disposable ones....
Prices range from under $4 to over $100. I haven't checked on their shipping yet.

and that is one of many. Then there's always B3, NB and all the other regulars. I really don't care where they come from, as long as they are the best price for the best product. I'll surely get at least 2, maybe 3.

Nope, haven't placed an order yet, but I figure we can do that at the Brew meeting... so bring your thoughts, your choice of website and we can compare from there.
For anyone that can't make it, we'll post the website we plan on using and you can select what you want and I'll pick it up for ya!

Just FYI... the stir bars are in. They shipped in 3 days and I ordered on the weekend. Can't wait to try them out. I need to get the rheostat still.
Any suggestions on the rheostat? I think I read on the green board that a 100ohm would be my best bet..... anyone?
