Re: Beer Tasting Schedule 2010

I think the "Fall beers" tasting was a hit. It was nicely done, and a good variation on the one-style tasting we normally do (I shudder at the thought of an entire tasting of "pumpkin beers" - no matter how much I like the style).

Well done, Lee. And thanks for running the tasting, Dale and Glenn ...

Re: Partial boil extract beer in the kitchen questions

Just to put in my $.02 -

Cooling the wort in an ice bath in the sink: you can speed up the process (without adding ice directly to the wort) by agitating the wort in the pot. I stick a long-handled spatula in the pot and tweak it every so often so I can keep the liquid moving a bit (transferring ...

Re: March 2010

Yeah, that would be a big fat "OOPS" on my part: I didn't make it to the meeting. If someone else took notes (after a round of boo-ing on my absence, so I hear), then I am in their debt... and would ask them to kindly step forward and post some minutes from last month.

Sorry. Mea culpa.

Tasting - Imperials (thanks, Lee)

Doing it casual this time – everyone sit down, we'll pass the single pitcher around.

The term “Imperial Stout” comes from beers that were made in England for the Czars in Russia. Big beers, barrel kegged. Higher starting gravities, higher finishing gravities ...
