Re: Whole Hops Sale

they are flushing out their 2009 leaf hops. Not a bad deal for people that don't need/want a full pound of hops.

Domestic:
Fuggle, Palisade and Sterling

Imported:
Czech Saaz and German Spalt

edit** changed the year to 2009. guess I don't know what year it is :(

Re: VSS July-Sept

I'd love to be in on the 2252-PC Rasenmaher Lagerbier, but my chest freezer shot craps on me a few days ago and I now have no way to lager. :(
Looking into getting a new freezer.

Re: Bayou Classic SQ14 or KAB4(sometimes KAB5)

I think Belden also has the SQ14 and he's doing 24 gallon batches on it. I'm sure he'd rather have the 200k btu at this point, but the 55k seems to work fine. I've been looking into upgrading my setup lately, but I need to calculate the cost of the new burners vs the advantage to having them. It's a...

smoked boar and a store bought ham

Putting the wraps on a great day despite the early and late rain! Started the day making a rub for some wild boar ribs that we wrapped in 4 lbs of smoked bacon and used the same rub on a store-bought ham. Loaded the smoker in the rain, got things all setup and smoking. Friends came over, drank some ...

Re: Plastic welding

A soldering iron using the flat blade/bit should do it. Or you can go with your torch idea and a piece of metal. I wouldn't suggest you put flame directly to the plastic for fear of burning it. I've sealed plastic parts using a soldering iron before with different levels of success. You may want to ...

Re: Bulk hops storage

I would never leave hops in the refrigerator. Vacuum sealer is the only way to go. Remove all the air and freeze them ASAP. I keep my hops vacuum sealed in a - 2° freezer. Hops degrade regardless of how you store them, but the less air and the colder it is, the longer they will last. As far as bag s...

Re: Converting Corny Keg into Fermentator

I may as well do this, since I have 2 keg lids that came w/ my pin locks that have no pressure relief valves, I may as well drill them and fit them for blow-off tubes. Besides, I could also use the lid to serve with if I put a valve on it like you did :D
