Soooo....

As far as using them as primary fermenters, could one just put on the sealing plate & NOT screw down the lid tight to allow bubbling "seepage" without having to use a bubbler/airlock?

If so, I might be interested in one.

I actually remove the sealing plate and screw the lid down tight. This keeps enough positive pressure for the duration of my primary, then I secondary in kegs. No airlocks means no hassles, but it also means no bubbles. If you rely on airlock activity to determine when fermentation has begun, you may opt to drill a hole through the sealing plate and lid for your stopper/airlock needs. Personally, I throw a 3" krausen within 24 hours so I know fermentation has started. I love these and don't miss sanitizing an extra piece of equipment one bit.

+1 no need for airlock. I trust the krausen.
