I'm looking for a used smoker. Nothing fancy, just something that'll get the job done while I'm still learning and not quite sure about what I'm doing.

I will help you with a mod that will help even the heat in the cooking chamber.

Hey, I have three cookers.....one is smoker used a couple of times, a old kettle grill that works great and a homemade grill (with stainless steel grates) I won in a raffle. I am sure I have something if the first grill does not work for you.

Thanks for the offer. I think the first smoker will work for me. It needs a little TLC, but I think I can whip it into shape with a little wire brush, power washing, and high-temp paint.

After I'm done with the wire brush and paint she should look better than new. The next plan is a heat deflector where heat passes into the smokebox and some firebricks in the fire and smoke boxes. I'll see if I can find a charcoal cage as well to put in the firebox.
Anyone have a spare metal cage the size of a milk crate?

Tuning plates would cost just a hair more than a reflector and will do much more for your heat distribution, imo.

@Blktre
I read up on tuning plates. They sound awesome for horizontal offset smokers, but this one is a vertical offset...
