Benefit Beer

#1 Post by Joe Yoder » Wed Sep 01, 2010 3:27 pm

I am helping with a benefit for some friends in the Newton, KS, area who have had a very tough year. Both have cancer and have had surgeries, radiation and chemo, resulting in loss of income, etc. I realize that none of you know these people, but I also recognize the amazing generosity of this group, so I thought that I would make a request for beer that will be served at the benefit for a donation. The donation will secure a commemorative glass like Pints for Pets and Jugs for Mugs. If any of you would like to donate a keg for a good cause, let me know. I will transport the beer and get your keg back to you as soon after the event as possible. I will make sure that you get a commemorative glass for your efforts and you would, of course, be welcome to attend the event which will be on October 16 on a farm near Goessel, KS (about 2.5 hours southwest of here). There will also be great live music, a silent auction and food.
Contact me if you would like to help!
Thanks,
Joe Yoder

Joe,

Been looking for a good excuse to brew some beer...what kind of beer you want? Can brew up a 10 Gal batch his weekend for the cause. Give me a beer you want and I will get the yeast cooking tomorrow.

October...right around Fall Festival at good old BC. Use to date a girl from Goessel.... :D

Sorry.... Brain fart. I see the date. Martin and I would love to kick in 5 gallons. Any particular flavor?

You guys are awesome!! Brew whatever variety you like. Nate and I will be brewing a Stout and a Pale Ale (probably toward the IPA range) this Friday. The people at the event are accustomed to my beer, so don't be afraid that they are all coorsmillerbud drinkers.
The event is double billed as the Helping Hands Duck Down 33. Those of you that have known me for awhile have probably been to a duckdown or two. This is 33rd (gawd I'm old) consecutive year that I have thrown this bash. It varies from year to year in location, size and date, but I always have some sort of duck to eat. This year Dale has offered to make Duck sausage. The plan is to have a chili cook off as part of the event, so duck sausage chili is in the development stage!
Thanks to all of you who are offering beer and if you feel like coming down for the event, there is plenty of space for camping (hopefully Oct. 16 won't be too cold) and you are all quite welcome!
Joe
