Joe, you may have my spot. I think I am going to bow out of this one.
Cheers!

1. When a once extraordinarily hoppy beer now seems pedestrian.
2. The phenomenon a person has when craving more bitterness in beer.
3. The long-term exposure to extremely hoppy beers; if excessive or prolonged, a habitual dependence on hops will occur.
4. When a "Double IPA" just is not enough

kinda pushing it to be here for Sat huh?
I was pretty much hoping to have hops weighed and all grains milled no later than Thurs afternoon. If this cant happen, i will have to bow out of this if the plan is to still brew on Sat. My time contraints this week is pretty demanding....

Any way hops R here . We're gonna split batch brew. We'll split out ingredients and everyone can brew whichever day is best for them. I'm thinking Dustin, Joe and one other 5'er will brew over here for 30 gal. Then Andy, Jarrell and another guy can brew at Andy's for the other 20. Me and Dustin are shooting for Saturday.

I'm picking up a very large batch of 1056 from a local brewery that we can split out for yeast.

Since we're fake barreling with oak chips you'll have to pick up your own oak. We're shooting for a pound or so per 10 gallons.

I'll figure out cost for grains and hops in a little bit and post that later today. You pay when you get your stuff.

I think it will be smarter to have small batches than one large one in dealing w/ the oak chips..cheers shane

So basically where its stands we have pretty much tossed the 3rd barrel as a group out the window...Or am I reading this wrong?

I'm a little slow sometimes so I'll put this down just incase I'm missing something...Please fill in the missing parts.

With the original oak barrel now being out of operation and the plans for brewing this as a club event being difficult for everyone to arange time schedules now it's every man for him self?

The grain was purchased by the club and are at Shanes...I guess a check made out to LBG is the best way to make accounting work best. Shane if you can get totals together with individual break downs that would be good!

Actually works out well that my big barrel isn't being used as I had planned to use it for a seperate project with a group from KC. I'll now be able to move the time schedule forward for that :) I had originally planned that we would be doing this 3rd barrel as a group but like you have pointed out we can easily ferment in the smaller 14 gallon barrels as we normally do and heck as long as we all do the same recipe it would be a fun comparison.

Shane, last time I talked to you about needing to use my barrel you said I would need to provide my own fittings...not a problem. I guess you can take yours off so I can make arrangments to pick it up. If the remainder of people need more blue barrels (depending on how long you plan to keep yours on oak) I have more available. I can also help you get another 55 gallon blue barrel as that would probably be easier in the long run! Let me know what else I can do to help the other people on this one too!

The chips clogging the big blue is unacceptable! IMBrewingO. Smaller barrels would be able to be dealt w/ no matter what. Thats my2pennies.
The every man for himself is not what it is ,We just dont want to haul shit. Kinda like you all.

About the big blue, call me ,come pick it up whenever.

The whole cost is out of my pocket and is not from LBG. The cost for grains and hops is $14 per 5 gallons. Checks work ,but cash is cash.

Thanks. Anything else? im here
cheers shane

I think you may be over shooting the oak a bit. 2-3 ounces per 5 or 6 gal is pretty standard regardless of gravity. Taking that into consideration, we are only talking about aprox. 2lbs of oak for the entire 55 gallons wich I imagine would fit pretty easily into the big barrel.
Cheers!
