HOMEBREW AND VOLUNTEER DISCUSSION

Officer nominations need to be considered by LBG members, particularly the two-term limit positions of President and Vice President, which will be open.

UPCOMING EVENTS

October Meeting - Thursday, Oct. 9
Rally in the Alley - Saturday, Oct. 18
2025 Club Brewing Showdown - Saturday, Oct. 25
Learn to Homebrew Day - Saturday, Nov. 1
November Hoppy Hour - Thursday, Nov. 6 (County Road Brewing)
November Meeting - Thursday, Nov. 13
Holiday Party - Saturday, Dec. 6

ANNOUNCEMENTS

1. Rally in the Alley - Looking for brewers and ticket sales for the event on Saturday, October 18 from 1pm - 5pm in Parkville, MO.

2. 2025 Club Brewing Showdown- The Kansas City Bier Meisters are hosting this year's version of the Beer to Rule Them All Club Competition for Kansas and Missouri homebrewers. The three best British beer style beers from each homebrewing club will be entered and judged. Beers will be delivered to Transport Brewing in Shawnee, Kansas on October 25. Bill, Steven and Angelo will be submitting entries.

3. Learn to Homebrew Day - Any ideas? Where can we host outreach to expand our club and hobby? https://homebrewersassociation.org/aha- ... ebrew-day/

4. November Hoppy Hour - The Hoppy Hour on Thursday, Nov. 6 will be held at County Road Brewing in Tonganoxie. It will begin at 4:30 pm with a 5:30 Tour and Q&A.

5. Brewfest photos are now up on social media and in the forum. Share your photos using the link on the forum!

6. Thanks to all of the volunteers that helped with Brewfest XXIX. The Brewfest nearly made a slight profit, however some changes may need to be considered for the event and on how to promote next year's 30th Anniversary Brewfest. Unfortunately, only $60-100 was collected for the Reefer Truck, which should be back in action for next year's event. With the costs and availability of renting a truck like this, it is important to support JustFood next year.

7. Holiday Party Food Sign Up and Beer Exchange- Saturday, Dec. 6. At least 4 LBG members or teams need to provide 4 different hams, turkeys or large proteins. LBG will reimburse at a reasonable cost, but volunteers need to deliver the proteins ready to serve at the event. Also, to participate at the exchange table you should bring at least 72 ounces of beer in the form of a six pack (12 oz. ea.) or bottles (22 oz. ea. or 750 ml). It can be commercial or homebrew, but should be comparable in quality and uniqueness to something that you would want to receive in exchange.

OTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS

Discussion was held about next year's 30th Anniversary Brewfest including the overall size and style of the event, location, music, signage, merch, promotion, and Brewfest committee volunteerism. These are driving factors on the costs and necessary profits from the event, as this year the Brewfest only made a slight profit. The upcoming 30th annual event should be special, but also needs to help pay for events and costs associated with LBG throughout the year. Even meeting venue costs were discussed and should be considered as LBG looks at next year.
