OTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS

SEMINAR

Chill Out with Ryan. When are we cooling? Post-Boil, Fermentation, Post Fermentation (Cold Crashing), Kegging, Serving, Other. How can we cool? Cold Water, Ice Bath, Fermentation Chambers, Glycol Systems, Beer Fridges, Jockey Boxes, Other.

To deal with summer warm tap water temperatures you can use closed loop cooling or a small fountain pump in a cooler/bucket of ice and water. You can use a temperature controller in a Fermentation Chamber to drive and control refrigerator/freezer temperatures out of range for a typical unit or with a Fermenter Heat Wrap to control temperatures. Propylene Glycol is a fluid that works to cool your beer like the refrigeration process- it is food-safe and lowers the freezing point of water. There are ways to make or convert A/C units into glycol coolers.

TASTING

Chuck discussed European-style lagers and festbiers, along with the German purity law. Beers tasted included KC Bier Co's Helles, Blind Tiger's Maibock, and two imported European beers.

Have a social brew day and announce on forum, Facebook group, etc. We are constantly looking for volunteers to do things within the club: Pints for Pets, Equipment and Library Hosting, Brewfest, Holiday Party, and others like Maifest and Learn to Homebrew Day.
