While your at work

#1 Post by Blktre » Thu Nov 01, 2007 1:16 pm

Im enjoying a starter canning session. Doing a small batch of starter wort, approx. 5g. That should get me thru for the next few months. I was in panic mode, only 2 step pints left and no quarts  So, enjoy this nice fall sunny day desk jockeys!! I know i am!!!

Knock on wood...the weather has been awesome lately!

Canning starters...This would be something I would like to watch firsthand whenever you, or anyone else for that matter, plan to do one again. Sounds like it might be awhile if you are doing 5g though.

I was at the meeting when it was discussed a few months back but I am more of a visual person.

thanks
Andrew C.

daym, ran out of lids and 1/2g left :( Thats ok, still got 17 full qts. and 4 pints....

Hey Andrew, canning is real easy, cheap to if you mash your own grains. Since we buy bulk, 7-10# of grain only costs a few cents compared with using extract which the last time i checked 5# DME was over 5 bucks. That defeats the $$ part of canning imo........ill be doing another round before it gets too cold and i will holler at ya......
