Wanted: 5 Gallon Glass Carboy

#1 Post by BourbonDrinker » Fri May 09, 2008 11:34 pm

I'm looking for a 5 gallon glass carboy or two so I can get simultaneous brews going. I'd like to start looking for some used ones, and if that's not possible, I'd like your recommendations of where I could get them locally for a decent price (without burning a tank of gas driving to Kansas City).

Thanks.

Go for the 6.5 gallon size for primary and 5 gallon for secondary. There are several other fermenter options includiing buckets, cornis, and the vessels Lee was selling. Ale and Vino in Topeka also is an option. It's a shorter drive. You should probably call ahead to make sure there is a stock. Don't forget the handle, air lock, stopper, and thermometer tape. You could also go with mail order www.morebeer.com or Northern Brewer

I'd go to Ale n Vino, they have the best deal on glass carboys. Carboys don't qualify for free or flat shipping from the online shops so any deal you get will be offset by shipping rates. LBG members get 10 per cent off at Ale n Vino and you would be supporting your LHBS which is probably the most important consideration.
