Apples
Morning Jack,
It depends on the juice content of the apples and how efficient our press is. So say for instance you can get 50% yield from an apple, you would need 2 lbs of apples to get 1 lb of juice and since there are 8 lbs/gallon you'd need 16 lbs /gallon or 80lbs / 5gallons. Then figure you don't get that efficiency so perhaps 100 lbs of apples. How's that?
Cheers
Chuck

We were getting about 2-2.5g of juice per bushel. Which was a large clothes basket full.

Re: 1
Hahahaha......couldn't tell ya. I'm guessing the clothes basket full weighed in the neighborhood of 55#'s. As compared to lifting grain saks to feed the cattle and malt for brewing. So, it looks like to get 5g, your pretty daym close. See, Chucky Baby, you are worth something after allfergmeister wrote:Andy,
So how much does that weigh and does my math work?

Oh by the way, they invented units of measurement to more accurately describe the weight of bags of grain and bushels of apples. It's called civilization.
