It was a good week

#1 Post by klickcue » Sun Oct 26, 2008 9:14 pm

I feel like there is some progress being made since the weight of being behind has been over my head.

Kegged an Oktoberfest tonight was an ABV of 4.5. Has been in the primary for 4 weeks with 3 weeks at 50 degrees and 1 week at 65 degrees. Tasted good out of the SG sample tube. It has started the lagering process now.

Did a Christmas/Winter Specialty Spiced Beer, Saturday. Hope that I didn?t mess up on it with the spices. I tasted the wort close to the end of the boil and decided to add more. The spices are Allspice, Cinnamon, Ginger and Nutmeg. The grain was Maris Otter. Measured gravity into the carboy was 1.077 SG. Hopefully, it will be done by Christmas and will taste good. Used WLP002 for the yeast.

Have a Oatmeal Stout and a California Common that should come out of the carboy next weekend.

Wanted to do a Maibock or a Dry Stout today but it was too windy and wanted to get the tender plant into the house. Have the grains measured out ready to mill. To another day.

On tap is Evil Twin and a Irish Red Ale. The Irish Red Ale is OK but won?t do it again. Coming out of the bottle is an Irish Ale that is very tasty with Light Chocolate Malt as the background flavor. Also in bottles is an American Amber Ale that is nice.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend and are ready for the freeze.

Don?t forget to unhook the hoses from the outdoor faucet! :-(
Have Fun!

Chris

I am only brewing 5 gallon batches (7 gallon start) and 5 gallons doesn't last very long at 2 beers a night. Pushing along to try and get enough a head to age.

November's meeting doesn't look very promising but still keeping an eye on the date. Looks like a good group of people that would be nice to meet and put a face on.

I enjoy brewing beer and will have to make some changes around here so that I can continue this Winter and the humidity will be good for the house

Cheri is not much of a beer drinker which leaves more for me
Have Fun!

Chris
