Opening a Sack of Grain

Haven't given it much thought until I was opening a bag of pale malt today. Do you know how to open a bag of grain without ripping ever thread in the seam?

It is possible. I learned from Jensen who learned from Mikey. There probably is a better way than I do it, but on the end that has been looped back, I cut all three strings close to the bag. From there, I start pulling one at a time until one just kind of unravels.

How's that for lack of preciseness?

Two sets of stitches on top of the sack, one on each side, start with the shorter one. Get in there and start unraveling the first few sets of loops in the stitch. You'll notice that one string is the runner in the stitch, it's on the side with flat stitches on it, pull that one out and the whole works will unravel.
