MT 16-3-213 small brewery exception

We ran into an interesting law in Montana. It allows small brewery's (between 100 and 10,000 barrel production per year) to sell their beer on premises. They are limited to the hours 10 am to 8 pm and 48 ounces per person (3 pints) per day. The two breweries we ran across were only open 4-8pm. The law also allows for growler or package sales for carry out only.

there is mention in the MT Dept of Revenue that this is the more enviromental...
Mr. Kujawa further stated that he believes breweries provide quality goods and services to the state of Montana. Consuming alcohol from growlers or pints filled at a local brewery is much more energy efficient and sustainable practice than buying packaged alcohol from a store.

Interesting law, I think. I bet Tallgrass would like something like this in Kansas....

So would I. Except for the 3 pint max rule. That's a bit strange to me.

Especially strange when you consider that a growler is 64 oz. :|

But hell yeah, I'd love a law like that on the books here, minus the limitation on sales. "Speakeasy"-like places would pop up in brewers' homes all over Lawrence. I know I'd have to move back to Mass Street and turn my old apartment into a little speakeasy. There'd be a line down the hallway and my neighbors would be pissed, but it would be fun while it lasted.
