How do you make a sight gauge?

Does anyone know how to make a sight gauge? There has to be a way to make one cheaper then buying it.

depends on how fancy you want to go. You can take a brass elbow and attach it to the kettle like a weldless fitting. Then use vinyl tubing as the gauge part. At the top of the kettle attach a eye bolt to keep the tubing tight. Prolly do this for 5-6 bucks or so. If you want to go acrylic, talk w/ Snowman, he can get that as well...
